Selecting the Right Tables for Your Next Event (Part 2)

Welcome back to navigating event table furniture!

In Part 1, we explored some of the most commonly requested table solutions.

In this Second part, we’re looking at a few more essential table setups from our inventory, why they matter, and how to use them effectively.

1. Cake Tables

The cake table might seem simple and may only hold one item, but it is one of the most important and eye-catching pieces at an event.

During one of the most anticipated moments of major events (weddings, milestone celebrations, and brand anniversaries), which is the cake cutting scene, all eyes eventually turn here. It becomes one of the most photographed pieces in the room, meaning it needs to match the calibre of the occasion.

Depending on the theme, we often move away from standard, hidden tables covered in loose linen and instead opt for standalone statement pieces. Round tables remain a classic choice for good reason, offering a 360-degree view for guests and photographers, but we also frequently utilize our clean display plinths, classic round tables dressed in custom drapes, sleek glass, mirrored, or geometric plinth styles, and mirrored structures to elevate the cake and give it a more modern, premium finish.

2. Trestle & VIP Tables

The trestle table is the ultimate utility player. They’re everywhere for a reason.

Whilst guests often see them beautifully dressed with linen and décor, behind the scenes they are used for everything from registration desks and catering stations to production control areas and backstage operations. For guest-facing spaces, they can be transformed into elegant dining tables, VIP seating areas, judging panels, discussion tables, or head tables for special guests.

What makes them so useful is their flexibility. They can be arranged in straight lines, U-shapes, boardroom layouts, banquet configurations, or customised floorplans depending on the event requirements.

3. Serpentine Tables

When straight lines don’t fit the creative vision, we introduce serpentine tables. Also known as curved or crescent tables, their curved shape allows them to create flowing layouts that standard rectangular tables simply cannot achieve.

They work exceptionally well to build food stations and buffet stations, forming snake-like organic flow curves and styles. They can be used individually or combined together to form circles, semi-circles, S-shapes, and other custom configurations.cy, or refined events, we also offer LED poseur tables and wooden-top variations.

4. High Tables

Not to be confused with the more compact poseur tables used at drinks receptions, our high tables offer a larger surface area. These rectangular or square high-top tables are designed for guests to gather around comfortably for longer periods.

They allow groups to talk, review documents, or set down drinks without forcing everyone into a static seated arrangement.

When you do want to offer the option to sit, we pair these with matching bar stools. This keeps seated guests at a similar eye level to those standing or walking past, making conversation feel natural, approachable, and fluid across the entire floor.

5. Coffee Tables

When designing breakout zones, VIP lounges, or relaxed networking areas within a larger venue, coffee tables are an absolute necessity.

They encourage people to slow down, sit comfortably, and spend time in conversation. While they provide a practical surface for a guest’s phone, notebook, or morning coffee. For branded events, coffee tables can become another subtle touchpoint for messaging and branding.

When combined with sofas, armchairs, soft furnishings, and lounge seating, coffee tables help transform large venues into more intimate and welcoming spaces.
